Byline: cure panic attacks Lee Corden
Coventry W Brom 0 0 WEST BROM’S poor run continued as their failure in front of goal saw them slip out of the Championship’s top two.
Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo insists that he won’t panic – despite only one win in seven games and his attacking deficiencies without Roman Bednar and Chris Brunt.
He said: “We tried to win the game but we are struggling to score goals. We had a lot of possession in this game and the best chances, but we didn’t take them.”
Coventry manager Chris Coleman was more than satisfied with a draw after his team had suffered two defeats on their travels.
The home side were already missing Aron Gunnarsson, Sammy Clingan and Leon Best before they lost keeper Keiren Westwood after only 10 minutes with a back problem.
Greek stopper Dimi Konstantopoulos replaced Westwood for his first league appearance of the season and he twice saved well with his legs.
Coleman said: “We had to play a certain way to get something out of this game.
“It had to be back to basics.
We lost Keiren early on but Dimi came in and was brilliant for us.
“It wasn’t pretty but I couldn’t fault our players’ attitude or appetite.”
Albion felt they should have had a penalty right on halftime, but instead Jerome Thomas was booked for diving.
The Sky Blues then had a shout for a spot-kick right at the start of the second period when Abdoulaye Meite appeared to be holding on to Freddy Eastwood.
But the decision went against the Coventry striker.
