Unimax Unveils New PBX and Voice Mail Administration Software for SMBs and Universities
Market Wire, July, 2010
Unimax Systems Corporation , a leading provider of telecom configuration management software and unified voice administration, today released two new editions to its popular 2nd Nature PBX and voice mail management software. The new products include an edition of 2nd Nature developed specifically for small to mid-sized businesses, and another edition for colleges and universities.
For the past 20 years, 2nd Nature has replaced the highly complex administration software that is bundled with PBX and voice mail systems with an easy-to-use application that expands telecom administration functionality for its long list of Fortune 500 customers. Today’s product introductions will make 2nd Nature and its numerous benefits available to small and mid-sized businesses, colleges, and universities.
“We’ve taken the telecom industry’s only administration application that provides out-of-the-box compatibility with brand name PBX and voice mail systems as well as Microsoft Active Directory and expanded it to two new markets,” said Phil Moen, Unimax President and CEO. “Most importantly, we are making these new products available with bundled or package pricing which includes installation, training, and maintenance at one low price. Subscription pricing is also available. Bringing enterprise-class telecom administration tools to these new markets will revolutionize how they administer their phone systems.”
Small and mid-sized businesses typically don’t have the time or resources to effectively administer their complex PBX and voice mail systems. As a result, valuable time that should be spent on improving the business and focusing on strategic initiatives is spent trying to understand and manage the phone system. 2nd Nature SMB Edition solves this problem by reducing PBX and voice mail system complexity and significantly reducing the amount of time it takes to manage the phone system.
Colleges and universities face many unique challenges around managing their PBX and voice mail systems. For example, extensive student changes prior to each semester can take weeks to process. 2nd Nature University Edition provides the tools that can reduce the time spent on this process to only hours. In addition to saving time, 2nd Nature provides colleges and universities with extensive cost savings and the ability to dramatically improve internal customer service.
“Developing the new SMB and University editions of 2nd Nature has been in direct response to market demand,” said Todd Remely, Unimax Director of Marketing. “Expanding our market by addressing the needs of small and mid-sized businesses, colleges, and universities with new editions of our proven and highly successful 2nd Nature application represents a significant opportunity to drive revenue and growth for the company.”
Both new 2nd Nature Editions are available starting today

Police blotter
0 Comments | Dayton Daily News, Jul 29, 2010 | by — CompiledMarc Katz
A roundup of unusual items from area police departments:
Veteran’s meager possessions end up in restroom
ENGLEWOOD (June 22): It wasn’t roomy, but it could have been used as a home.
At least that might have been the case at a local gas station where the attendant found a broken door handle to the men’s restroom.
Inside the restroom was found a camouflage vest with multiple pockets, inside of which were a cell phone, eye glasses, a credit card holder, Veterans Administration hospital ID band. There was also a red hat with U.S. Marine Corps emblem and the word “retired.” There was a grocery store reuseable shopping bag containing hospital clothing, a 40-ounce bottle of beer and a bottle of vodka on the floor.
The property “appeared to be orderly and not dropped off in a hurried manner.”
Not so orderly was the wall between the men’s and women’s restrooms. It appeared to be kicked in from the women’s side in order to gain access to the men’s side.
Later, the police officer received a call to check on the welfare of a male who was standing at the exit to the interstate

Our actions determine, good or bad, who and what we are becoming.
Seems so incredibly simple, doesn?t it?
The twisting of a passing fancy or the pondering of an awesome realization can lead us along the path to devastation or euphoria.
Thoughts become things. True story. But you need to believe and act upon this singular truth. Because whether you realize it or not, whether you believe it or not, you will be the product of your thoughts, your actions, your chosen futures.
It is so much more pleasant, more fulfilling, to choose the path of happiness rather than the path of instant gratification.

Falmouth’s mythical monster Morgawr inspires design of fantastic new
0 Comments | West Briton, The; Truro (UK), Jul 22, 2010
A NEW children’s play area inspired by Falmouth’s very own mythical sea monster, opened this week.
Created within Gyllyngdune Gardens as part of a Pounds 2.3 million restoration project, the play area boasts some unusual elements.
There are granite eyeballs, a tail seat, dragons’ eggs, a tile mosaic and sweet chestnut ears, tail and play net. Children from four of the town’s primary schools lent a helping hand to the design team and were easily inspired by the “monstrous” theme.
Morgawr, which means sea giant in Cornish, is a mythical creature said to live in the waters of Falmouth Bay.
The new play area was officially opened by Councillor Julian German, Cornwall Council Cabinet member for waste management, climate change and historic environment. “This is a fantastic project and it’s brilliant to have been able to get the local children involved in developing a story which can be translated in a unique and enjoyable play area for young children,” he said.
“I hope it will be enjoyed now and by many generations of children to come.”
The new area was funded by Cornwall Council’s Pathfinder Project, Carrick Leisure and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Gaza lingerie shops eyed by Hamas police
AFP, July, 2010
GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories (AFP) Hamas on Wednesday announced new regulations on shops selling women’s clothes as part of a campaign to safeguard “public morality” in its Gaza enclave.
The police said shops selling women’s clothes must not have dressing rooms or tinted windows, and that the mannequins on display out front must be modestly dressed.
“It is absolutely forbidden to place any photographic device inside the shop and it is forbidden to display revealing clothes in front of the shop,” a statement said.
The edict came nearly two weeks after Hamas banned women from smoking water pipes in public places and is the latest step taken by the Islamist movement to crack down on the mingling of the sexes in the conservative territory.

Maybe it would be a must if your pet was hyperactive or a bit on the wild side. If you do opt for pet training, be consistent while he is doing his training.
Learn to say no. Never give in to your pet when he is looking at you with melting eyes. Tell yourself every time he begs for that piece of chocolate or fries that you are feeding him food that could be poison to his system; make sure guests know the rules, too. Many digestive problems can be kept at bay with a little bit of self-restraint. Give your dog raw bones to chew on, and you’ll keep him happy and his teeth and gums healthy.

For the longest time, employers would do simple background checks. They have a potential employee complete a job application where they were asked for three professional references. Before the employee was hired, the three would receive a telephone call and tell the potential employer that the job applicant was a wonderful individual who would do incredible things for them, just as they had done before.
For a while, polygraphs or lie detectors became part of the standard arsenal of checking until, fortunately, legislation was passed in many states eliminating it as a tool (they were notoriously inaccurate).
In a recent poll, 77% of employers surveyed were searching the web for information about new hires and 35% had eliminated a candidate based upon something they found there.
A few years ago, a manager I was working with at a hedge fund Googled the name of a job applicant for a technical position and found a posting where they had written that they were still working in technology only because they had suffered large trading losses and wanted to join a company where they could learn what they did wrong?in other words, learn how my client traded and steal the model.

Nuts & seeds are protein sources
0 Comments | DNA : Daily News & Analysis; Mumbai, Nov 23, 2009
Your body needs over 45 different nutrients every day. Eating a vegetarian diet can be healthy and rewarding. However, most vegetarians are concerned about getting adequate and quality proteins. Fortunately, with a bit of extra attention, you won’t have any trouble meeting your protein needs and their quality.
Protein helps build, repair, and maintain body cells and tissues like your skin, muscles, organs, blood, and even bones. Proteins act as antibodies and protect you from disease-carrying bacteria and viruses. They help regulate the quantity of fluids in the compartments of the body to maintain your fluid balance.
Nuts, seeds, soy products, cereal, (eggs) and dairy products are all good meatless protein choices. These groups of food each contain different amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) and different levels of protein quality. When your diet includes a variety of each of these types of foods, you can be sure you are consuming all the amino acids you need for muscle growth and cell repair.
Nuts provide a good dose of protein along with some heart-healthy fatty acids and antioxidants (vitamins A and E). Peanuts (20% of it is proteins), almonds, pistachios, cashews are among the highest in proteins.
Seeds are another great way to grab a few grams of protein and many other nutrients. Just a quarter cup of pumpkin seeds has 8.5 grams of protein. Dried peas, beans and lentils belong to a group of food known as pulses or legumes. Soybean has 40% proteins – highest amongst vegetarian sources.
Indian diet is typically deficient in proteins as it is predominantly cereal based
